University of Colorado Boulder selected as prime for the Renew America’s Nonprofits – Rocky Mountain region (RAN-RM) project

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the prime selectees, tasked with administering the Renew America’s Nonprofits (RAN) program in each region of the US.

From the DOE website:

“The Renew America’s Nonprofits grant is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) $50 million Renew America’s Nonprofits Program, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions, improving health and safety, and lowering utilities costs at buildings owned and operated by 501(c)(3) nonprofits. The Renew America’s Nonprofits grant will support nonprofits across the country in planning and implementing energy efficiency projects, so they can create cleaner, healthier community spaces and generate sustainable savings that can be redirected toward mission-focused work.

The Renew America’s Nonprofits grant utilizes a nonprofits-helping-nonprofits model. DOE is investing in nine Selectees, who will collaborate with 38 partner organizations to support hundreds of nonprofits across the country in planning and implementing energy efficiency projects.  Between cultivating healthier community spaces and saving operational dollars so that nonprofits can focus on their missions, DOE’s investments will ultimately benefit thousands of people. “

The University of Colorado was selected as the prime to administer the RAN program in the Rocky Mountain region, which includes Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Utah.

From the DOE announcement:

“The Renew America’s Nonprofits – Rocky Mountain (RAN-RM) team is led by University of Colorado, an organization with reputable education and research programs in building energy efficiency and sustainability. The University of Colorado Boulder proposes an optimized, scaled, and sustainable model to retrofit nonprofit facilities. The model is based on a rigorous and gradual evaluation approach to systematically select suitable facilities and optimal impact energy efficiency measures. Subrecipients will benefit from retrofits and be selected from hundreds of eligible and engaged nonprofits.”
