Level 2 Energy Audits Completed

The RAN-RM team is pleased to announce that Level II Energy Audits for all cycle 1 applicants are now complete. The RAN-RM team along with University of Colorado students, conducted site-visits and field tests for facilities located in the Rocky Mountain Region to complete energy audit reports for 11 applicants. In mid-June the team presented their test results, findings and recommended energy efficiency measures to facility point of contacts. Additionally, the Level II Energy Audit Reports were evaluated by RAN-RM industry partners so students could receive professional feedback. This work is part of RAN-RM program’s effort to train future energy auditors.

Additionally, with assistance from the International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology (ICAST), the RAN-RM team evaluated three additional facilities located in Utah to be included in the cycle 1 applicant pool.

These 14 Level 2 Energy Audits along with the 12 completed in April 2025, totals 26 audits and marks the completion of the Energy Audit milestone for the RAN-RM program.

Starting August 2025 the RAN-RM team will work closely with industry partners and facility point of contacts to refine the cost estimation for the retrofit projects and finalize the selection of recommended retrofit measures.

Based on the potential energy savings and the total cost of the retrofit project, 12-18 applicants out of the 26 will be selected to receive funding for retrofits and upon US Department of Energy approval, will proceed to the Retrofit Implementation Phase (i.e., becoming retrofit subrecipients).

If you were selected for a Level II Energy Audit but have not heard back from the RAN-RM team regarding the status of your application, please contact us at [email protected].

We have also started accepting applications for preliminary energy assessments for the second cycle of the program. New applicants can submit their application by going to https://ranrm.com/apply_now/ and selecting “Apply for a Preliminary Energy Analysis Here” (Google Form Link).

As part of the RAN-RM program’s effort to promote continuous education and dissemination of energy efficiency and building retrofit knowledge, the RAN-RM team is hosting regular information sessions for all applicants. Details about the meetings, including registration links and topics, are available on our Events page.
